The Shan King Integrated Children & Youth Services Centre which was established in October 1983, is one of the social service units of the Hong Kong-Macao Conference of Seventh-day Adventists serving children and youth between the ages of 6 and 24. Its aim is to ensure that children & young people are growing up healthily, both mentally and physically.
Responding to the ever-changing needs of children and youth and their families, the Centre was given extra funding by the Social Welfare Department on 1 April 2003 to become an integrated children and youth services centre. Under an integrated model, the Centre adopts a whole-person, multi-level and inter-professional collaboration approach to identify service needs and tackle the problems of young people in the most effective manner. Children and young people can enhance their problem-solving skills, develop themselves into mature, responsible and contributing members of society.
With financial assistance from the Lotteries Fund, our modernization program was completed on 21 July 2010 and an inauguration ceremony was held on 16.1.2011. We are able to refurbish with new partitions, new flooring, paint, a dancing room, a domestic science room, accessible toilet, furnishings and computers. We have been able to transform our centre into an inviting and functional facility for local youth who need counseling services, group services and drop-in activities.
